Director of the PEE begins the Cycle of online conversations of the Department of Public Law UdeC<\/p>\n
Framed in the Projects of Academic Extension and Linkage with the environment of the University of Concepci\u00f3n, the Director of the European Studies Program, Dr. Paulina Astroza, inaugurated the Cycle of online conversations on Public Law and Covid-19, carried out by the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of our house of studies.<\/p>\n
The talk of Dr. Astroza's talk, entitled \u201cLack of international leadership in the management of Covid-19\u201d was to relate how global politics faces this pandemic, and what have been the greatest challenges for countries, considering the actions, positive or negative, of the main powers of the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy analysis was based on observing the management of the pandemic at the international level, the withdrawal of the United States as a great driving force for cooperation and agreement, as it had been in previous challenges throughout history, the fragility of Nations United Nations (UN) for precisely not having the support of the US, China's attempt to fill certain gaps that the North American country has left, worse with its own limitations, and the internal management problems of the European Union (EU ) \u201dIndicates the Director of the European Studies Program of our university.<\/p>\n
Under this same premise of the absence of international leadership in this crisis, Dr. Astroza\u00a0fue invitada para cerrar el curso<\/b>\u00a0de Introducci\u00f3n a las Relaciones Internacionales\u00a0de la Universidad del Rosario (Colombia)<\/b>, y dict\u00f3 esta charla a los estudiantes que lograron terminar sus estudios de pregrado.<\/p>\n

Jean Monnet Project<\/b><\/p>\n
Similarly, Dr. Astroza directs a Jean Monnet project (from the European Union) with other academics from Latin America. It is in this context that the European Studies Program together with the Andean Center for International Studies of the Sim\u00f3n Bolivar Andean University of Ecuador, carried out a free live seminar entitled \u201cThe European Union and de facto solidarity in times of the Covid- 19 \u201d, in which together with doctors Michel Levi (Ecuador), Gian Luca Gardini (Germany) and Mill\u00e1n Requena (Spain), they discussed the scope of solidarity between the countries of the European Union in this Coronavirus crisis.<\/p>\n

Regarding the situation of solidarity in the European bloc, the doctor in Political Sciences pointed out that they are the basis of its integration: \u201cIn the Schuman Declaration, which on May 9th celebrated its 70th anniversary since its signing, solidarity is recognized in fact as the engine of the integration process. This is why in the seminar we address this situation and seek, through our study areas, to contribute to this analysis \u201d, concluded the Director.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the European Studies Program was awarded, through its team of assistants, a project of Academic Extension and Connection with the UdeC Environment, to carry out a program of talks and online interviews called \"Global Perspective\", which begins this Wednesday May 20 at 6:00 p.m. and it will be broadcast live through its YouTube channel and its Facebook page.
