El 22 de abril se conmemor\u00f3 el \u201cD\u00cdA INTERNACIONAL DE LA TIERRA\u201d; hace ya 51 a\u00f1os de aquella hist\u00f3rica manifestaci\u00f3n, que congreg\u00f3 a cientos de universidades, escuelas p\u00fablicas y privadas y comunidad no gubernamental, para la creaci\u00f3n de una agencia ambiental en los Estados Unidos que respondiera al evidente deterioro del medio ambiente en el planeta y a las consecuencias de \u00e9ste sobre la salud de los recursos vivos, y que marc\u00f3 un antes y un despu\u00e9s respecto de la concientizaci\u00f3n humana frente al tema ambiente y planeta. Este hito nacional para los Estados Unidos, liderado por el senador y activista ambiental Gaylord Nelson, un 22 de abril de 1970, fue la antesala para que entre otros logros, se crear\u00e1 finalmente la Agencia de Protecci\u00f3n Ambiental de los Estados Unidos de Norteam\u00e9rica y con ella una serie de leyes destinadas a la protecci\u00f3n del medio ambiente. Este hecho dio pie para que dos a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde se llevara a cabo la primera conferencia internacional sobre el medio ambiente, la Cumbre Ambiental de 1972 en Estocolomo. De ah\u00ed y hasta nuestros d\u00edas ha mediado medio siglo de buenas intenciones, acciones concretas, aciertos y errores, pero ciertamente, no podemos negar que el tema de la \u201csalud planetaria\u201d ha estado permanentemente en el punto focal de la mayor\u00eda de los pa\u00edses del mundo.<\/p>\n

Nuestra Madre Tierra est\u00e1 actualmente enfrentada a graves dolores; incendios descontrolados en USA y Australia, con p\u00e9rdidas innumerables en cuanto a flora y fauna (por cierto, vidas humanas incluidas), plagas de langostas, ratones, ara\u00f1as, en varias regiones del planeta, aparejadas y consecuentes con hambruna, enfermedad y pobreza. Los atentados a la biodiversidad tales como la deforestaci\u00f3n, la producci\u00f3n agr\u00edcola y ganadera intensiva, el comercio ilegal de recursos naturales, la privatizaci\u00f3n del agua, etc., son tambi\u00e9n los invitados a esta nueva conmemoraci\u00f3n del d\u00eda de la Tierra, junto con el invitado de piedra que la gran mayor\u00eda solo imagin\u00f3 en la ficci\u00f3n, el Covid-19, enfermedad del tipo zoon\u00f3tica (transmitida de animales a humanos) que si bien no es la \u00fanica en el planeta hoy, ha sido la que ha cobrado un valor pand\u00e9mico en extremo grave y a\u00fan incierto en su magnitud. Como humanidad, desde nuestras m\u00e1s simples acciones hasta aquellas de quienes deciden y firman potentes acuerdos, debemos comprometernos seria y decididamente con asegurar mejor vida a nuestro planeta. Luego del Covid el tema urgente de la humanidad ser\u00e1 el tema ambiental, en todo el espectro de su acci\u00f3n. Todos y todas tenemos algo que decir al respecto, finalmente lo \u00fanico que tenemos es la Tierra.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
